Cowlitz County Habitat For Humanity was affiliated with Habitat For Humanity
International on March 1, 2000. A steering committee of 12-20 people began to form a Habitat affiliate here in Cowlitz County
in February of 1999. Support grew
and teams were formed and volunteers were educated on how Habitat works. The steering
committee set up initial policies for the new affiliate and in March of 2000, the
steering committee was replaced by a board of directors working with seven basic
teams to fulfill Habitat's mission.
