Dear Friends of Cowlitz County Habitat for Humanity,
Below is information on Habitat's efforts to assist in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
The Partner Help Line will respond to inquires from the public (800-HABITAT, 2552). Financial donations can be make through the website (www.habitat.org) and individuals wanting to travel to the area to rebuild can complete a form online. Obviously, Habitat is not sending people into the area right now.
Al Crumpton has been designated as the Resource Development (RD) point of contact for the Hurricane Katrina recovery effort if it involves a large (six figures or more) donation.
A web page will soon be posted on Partner Net with information related to the Hurricane Katrina recovery, similar to the one posted for the Tsunami Recovery project. Look for the page on Partner Net soon. On that page will be situation updates from the Disaster Response Office, along with reports on the goals and results of the fund raising effort for the project.
Habitat for Humanity relies heavily upon the spirit and commitment of its volunteers. This remains true as communities face the uphill battle to recover from a disaster.
While Habitat cannot act as a relief agency, it seeks to facilitate recovery options for those victims who seek permanent housing to rebuild their lives. As a builder of decent, safe, affordable housing, Habitat for Humanity recognizes the need to provide long-term solutions to the housing needs of families who have been affected and displaced by disasters.
After the immediate relief phase is completed, your help will be greatly appreciated as we move forward to meet the long term housing needs of the communities affected by Hurricane Katrina.
If you would like to volunteer in the recovery please visit www.habitat.org for further information.
Help rebuild the lives of the victims of Hurricane Katrina, piece by piece, house by house.
